OUTLOOK

Created to call attention to local issues, Outlook is a 90-second feature broadcast Monday through Friday at 7:50 am and 5:50 pm.   The segments are written by local citizens, and representatives from various community organizations, on subjects such as youth and education; economics; environment; health, safety, and crime; and politics and government. Regular contributors for Outlook include Lee Moldaver, Santa Barbara County School Superintendent Bill Cirone, and veteran television journalist Sander Vanocur.

SANTA BARBARA IN CONCERT

Santa Barbara is blessed with many excellent performing arts organizations: the Santa Barbara Symphony, Santa Barbara Chamber Orchestra, Opera Santa Barbara, chamber music ensemble Camerata Pacifica, Santa Barbara Choral Society, Santa Barbara Master Chorale, Quire of Voyces, the Music Academy of the West, and UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College music departments, among others.   KDB shares this musical largesse with those unable to attend live performances by broadcasting recordings during Santa Barbara in Concert, Sunday nights at 7 pm.

CHAUCER'S OPERA VIGNETTE

Nightly at 9 pm, KDB presents an aria or a scene from the Grand Opera repertoire, performed by the leading voices of our time.  Each Vignette features an enlightening introduction.  Opera Vignette is sponsored by Chaucer's Book Store, which has been a major friend to KDB for over 30 years. SINGING!

Sunday evenings at 9:10 pm (except for the first Sunday of the month) with this program of great choral works. The selections are mostly sacred, and chosen mainly from repertoire of the masters – Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, Brahms, and Handel – in performances by the world's leading choirs, soloists, and conductors. POPS CONCERT

Saturday evenings at 6 pm: classics in popular music!  Rich orchestrations of great 20th century American music from Broadway to Hollywood with selections by George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern, Irving Berlin, and many others. Go to our Music Schedule to see what's coming up.

MUSIC AFFILIATES HOUR

The UC Santa Barbara Music Department is staffed by superb musicians and teachers and attended by many talented student artists.  This program is their KDB showcase, with recorded performances, and enlightening interviews and discussions.   The show is broadcast the first Sunday of the month at 9:10 pm.

COMMONWEALTH CLUB

This highly respected San Francisco public affairs speakers' forum, founded in 1903, provides a weekly series of lectures and discussions about the vital topics of our time.   The guest speakers are national or world leaders in their respective fields. Broadcast on Sunday mornings at 7 am.
